With a Capitol C

"Happy Hunger Games and may the odds forever be in your favour"

The premier of the Hunger Games Catching Fire took place last week. I was lucky enough to attend the prescreening at the pictures after a long wait it proved to be quite excellent. I just couldn't get enough of the fashion!!!

The story goes...
Two worlds one poor with 13 districts until the uprising, now only 11 stand. They are the hunters and gatherers that make the existence of the other world possible. World two is filled with laughter, fun, craze, fascination and illumination were anything can happen. A world called
Panem destination to be..
 the
CAPITOL

Its all about looks, painted faces, glamour and sparkle. Who can out do the next persons look is their goal. Style and fashion is of most importance. People of the Capitol are commonly known for tattooing and dying their bodies bright colours to stand out. They would even go as far as plastic surgery to change their appearance. Capitol residence are known wearing multi coloured wigs.  I wouldn't mind living in a world of wigs. However their known for drinking a liquid which makes you vomit so you can eat more food which I don't condone.

They live the lives of the extremely wealthy from the rich exquisite food, to not having to work, their lives move around slowly until the day of the festive games. Games of brutality where they bet, grow fond over victors and laugh about the blood shed of each victor.

With High fashion, Bold, Futuristic, mind blowing alluring designs we were not let down by the brilliant styling and designing of Costume Designer Trish Summerville's.
Pairing together with Director Francis Lawrence  to come up with the looks they decided to make Catching Fire fashion richer and dark to reflect the sequels mood.

The outrageous fashion is what makes makes people of The Capitol so alluring to myself. Ms Effie Trinket and her courageous fashion is what caught my eye the most in Catching Fire. Ms Trinket costumes were made in a way to show feeling. They were hard to walk in and hard to breathe. It was said they were made this way to show and reflect her discomfort she might be feeling during the children in the reaping.

All I could think of when I saw Effies costumes was Alexander McQueen and right I was. The high end fashion of Ms trinket was quite excellent and mind blowing. I'd just love to live in a world where I could wear high end fashion day by day!

Having said Ms Trinkets fashion was by far the best. What I cannot and never will forget was the dress we all had been waiting for Ms Katniss Everdeen's
Wedding dress.
Absolutely beautiful it was, made with excellent craft man ship by Indonesian designer Tex Saverio. Decorated with 25 pounds of Swarovski crystal featuring a metal bodice layered with silks it was a wedding dress to be envyed by all. The way the dress burned into the mockingjay pure genius it was such a great moment in the movie such pride and passion.

All round I believed the fashion to be without a doubt amazing I give it two solid thumbs up as well as the overall movie. I hope to design and create clothing as magical, quirky and crazy as the great Trish Summerville!!!

I leave you will the great worlds of Alexander McQueen

The dynamic duo strikes the top

The dynamic duo strikes again!!!! UK fashion designers Meadham and Kirchhoff have made quite the splash for over 10 years in the fashion world. Well known for capturing the bitter sweet world of fashion. Their quirky, vibrant rather feminine and eccentric designs, this pair is never one to let you down! My most favourite collection from the dynamic duo would be there 2012 S/S, which is quite amazing. I will tell you about it in another post. Their most recent collection came out today in Topshop. Having already collaborated and produced 3 other collections for TopShop they proved to be quite popular. Although a few have said to name their collection TopShop on Crack. I however found it quite bewitching with a Wiccan type vibe, to me it was like a witch on acid which I loved.

This collection was based around the concept of an imaginary 80's glam rock band called The Cherry's. It was said all members of the band Cherry Cherie, Cherry Santanika, Cherry Pikka and Cherry Blossom were the type of girls the duo Ed and Ben created to base around their personalities, styles and traits in life. The overall aesthetics were influenced by Marylyn Manson and The Spooky kids, Kembra Pfahler and Glam Rock.

Put together with a mixture of soft lavishing fabrics this collection embodies a feeling of youth Wicca envy, pastel infusion and a sweet heart intension. It's a collection not to be missed if your a grand lover of Meadham Kirchhoff. Although this collection is not as crazy as what we're used to they created a great range for a more affordable price in the Topshop market level.

The Cherry's personality embodies a collection ranging from soft luxurious coloured Mongolian fur's, bright angora monster faced sweater, short pastel youthful frill filled dresses, croqueted rainbow knit and the pentagram featured on a Wicca inspired garments.

I personally quite enjoyed this collection, I love the mixture of fabrics and the vibrance of bright rainbow colours. The Wicca inspiration I found quite unique and bewitching in a great way, my overall opinion is ...........................

Once again Meadham and Kirchhoff have done it again. Hopefully I may be able to save for a piece of this great collection!

"It is an enormous and all encompassing collection which will offer a myriad of choice for any customer to adapt or reject as they see fit"

We like to party, We like, We like to party

A trip to Melbourne town was on the agenda for this weekends festivities. It was an old friend of mine from High School birthday party and what better way to celebrate then a good old fashioned house party surrounded by your closest friends and the seduction of alcohol. The trip began early as my gal pal Gem and I caught the train from our small town. As we arrived to our final stop after taking another train to our destination, knowing us we were going the wrong way making our walk/journey that 5 minutes longer. Finally arriving at our destination which was easy to find due to the balloons at the front "thanks Elly" we could finally relax and kick back. The party was a hit. We made some new friends, had a good fashion Aussie BBQ, went for an adventure to get some booze followed by a quick getaway to a local party although that was cut short since I believe the parents didn't like us slightly drunk young adults playing in a party. It was great catching up with an old friend plus having a good old gossip sesh with my bestie the day was a success as was my out fit that I got quite a few compliments on! There's nothing I love best then putting a look together. I was in the childlike alternative unique type of mood. I'd been dying to wear my smile boobs tops and pair it with my amazing new accessories from the label Cut throat on the street. The look went a little like this

Shirt: Men's shirt target
Top: Cool place Online
Skirt: Thrift store old netball skirt
Bag: Cool Place Online
Shoes: Target (do you believe it)
Sock: kids target
Sunglasses: Customised Cut throat on the street
Ring: Cut throat on the street

Your probably thinking man this girl love target but I don't actually usually shop there let alone buy from anywhere but thrift stores and vintage stores but these items made the exception haha

Well those were my weekend adventures. Hope you had many magical adventures  as well and remember

So live it up well you can

The Great Race

Since the dawn of time, the racing of ones man self on a horse whilst competing with others has proven to be quite the form of entertainment. This tradition dates back to the BC days in the Greek Olympics. It was considered a sport and a game where crowds would form around to view this competitive sport as entertainment, where they can laugh, carry on, drink and bet to there hearts content. Every one who was anyone would gather around and view the excellent horsemanship.
Some would result in a massive win and others with the loss of their weekly pay check. Like I always say " You win some you lose some".

When it comes to the races men go to have a bet and drink, but us women go to show the world our fashion. It's all about the fashion on the field. Each women out there competing against one another with who has the best look. The year 1962 is when it all began, a competition was put together for women, to entice more to come to the cup. As you can see many years later this enticing worked, as many women love to attend the cup.

This traditions has carried on for many years, Australia loves a good race. The most common races around the areas I am from are The Geelong Cup, Melbourne Cup, Oaks Day, Derby day and Ballarat Cup. This list could go on forever! This year last minute as per usual, a great friend of mine asked me to attend The Geelong Cup. I said yes obviously, pretty excited mostly for the fashion. The one part I just love about the cup, checking out all the outfits and the fashions on the field!

Since it was a little last minute, I had thought of making a dress but ran out of time unfortunately. I decided I definitely wanted something vintage. Riffling through my mother's wardrobe I came across this beautiful delight. . A vintage pastel coloured dress with a fitted bodice featuring a frilled neck line and a full skirt. It gave me a 50s/60's housewife vibe, although I did feel like a fairy princess cross between fairy floss. To my surprise my mother had a vintage floral head piece to match the look. I accessorised the rest of the look with my vintage shell clutch, white stilettos and white gloves to give it a more race kind of vibe. Oh and I can't forget my 60's twiggy shades to finish off the look when the sun did come out.

The day turned out to be pretty swell apart from the rain. Beginning with fashion on the fields we tested out the catwalk to see if we had what it took to win. As it began to rain afterwards, we took refuge in a viewing room where we could watch the races, have a drink, a gossip and a laugh. Ending the day by placing a bet, I came pretty close to winning some molla, if only I bet both ways. Although my bestie  Gemma was lucky enough, her horse made first place.

The day was a hit even thought it rained. Until next years races, maybe next time I shall try the Melbourne cup. I leave you with a message from Saint Augustine in theme of the race
